The Mildmay Veterinary Clinic is looking for a new full-time Veterinary Technician AND Vet Assistant to add to our growing team! We are a mixed animal practice that has been established in our community for over 40 years. Our team of 8 DVMs, 8 Techs, 3 VAs, and 3 Receptionists strive to provide quality medicine in a rural setting with a focus on client communication.
Here at the MVC we offer a number of services and have a multitude of diagnostic devices at our disposal. Some of our services include dentistries, routine surgeries (spays and neuters), non-routine surgeries (mass removals, urinary unblocking, cystotomies. abdominal exploratories), digital radiography, ultrasound, routine herd healths, in-clinic milk culture assessment, dehorning, in-clinic calf hospitalization, and in-clinic large animal surgical facilities. Our clinic utilizes Impromed as our software and is equipped with the Abaxis HM5, VS2, and VSPro. We utilize an IDEXX digital X-ray machine, and a GE Versana ultrasound machine.
Our staffs’ ethics and morals are always on our minds. We do not perform declaws on cats, nor do we perform cosmetic tail docking or hind dewclaw removal on neonates. We do our best to keep our staff out of the X-ray room during radiographs as much as we possibly can; Utilizing a ‘Hands-Free’ method and chemical restraint where applicable.
As a member of our staff, you will be able to rotate through different aspects of the clinic on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis. This includes surgical assistant, small animal appointments, on farms with vets assisting surgical procedures, or on farms performing routine checks on fresh cows and calves. Technicians also have the added duty of anesthesia and working in the lab/performing ‘tech appointments’.
Some benefits are included. We also offer an annual CE allowance and a scrub allowance towards our clinic uniforms. As a technician, you will be required to perform on-call duties. The MVC shares its on-call duties with another local clinic to reduce the number of days our combined staff have to be on call. As a Vet Assistant, you will not be performing on-call duties. Both positions required you to work some Saturday shifts.
We hope to hire an eager individual that has an excellent work ethic with the ability to work with our large team, but also takes initiative on their own.
For our VT position: While having your RVT certification is not necessary, having graduated with a Diploma in Veterinary Technology is.
For our VA position: Our preferred candidate will have completed courses in this field.
