Services

24 Hour Emergency

The Mildmay Veterinary Clinic works in cooperation with the Walkerton-Hanover Veterinary Clinic for after hour emergencies. There will always be a Veterinarian available 24/7/365 for your pets' and large animals' emergent medical needs.

Anesthesia & Patient Monitoring

During surgery and other medical procedures, our team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians monitors all patients to ensure their safety. Every patient is monitored with a Capnograph, ECG, Pulse Oximeter, and temperature probe. With these tools we can keep track of expired carbon dioxide, heart rate /electrical output, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and internal temperature.

Dog Training

At the Mildmay Veterinary Clinic, we are lucky to have two individuals who together run Puppy and Dog Obedience classes. Cindy, an Animal Health Technician and her daughter Sarah, our receptionist are experienced in the training world. Cindy actively competes in conformation, obedience, rally, agility and hunt tests. Sarah is often in the ring showing her dogs with skill and precision. Please call the clinic to sign up for a class with Cindy or Sarah, or to discuss any pet behaviour issues that you may have.

Medical

We strive to keep you informed of the latest advances in veterinary medicine and how they pertain to your pet. We are dedicated to keeping your pets healthy so that you may enjoy the special wonders a pet can add to your life. Our knowledgeable staff and our facilities allow us to deal with a variety of medical conditions your pet may experience.

Preventive

You can help keep your pet healthy by protecting him or her against parasites. Heartworms, fleas, ticks, and other internal and external parasites are much more than just pests; they can cause life-threatening conditions in your pet—and cause severe, potentially fatal, health problems for you and your family. We will recommend a preventive regimen for your pet based on lifestyle and risk factors. We can also provide advice on keeping your whole household safe from parasitic infection.

Surgical

Our veterinarians provide many surgical services at our clinic, ranging from routine to advanced procedures. Because we want to ensure that our patients receive the best possible outcome, we occasionally refer them to specialists (board-certified veterinary surgeons) to perform complex operations when advanced equipment or training will be beneficial. Our veterinary team will take precautions to ensure that your pet receives a safe anesthetic. We perform a physical exam and preanesthetic testing before surgery, monitor your pet during surgery, and provide pain medication during recovery.

Wellness and Vaccination Programs

Wellness programs allow us to diagnose diseases and conditions early, when they’re easier to treat or manage. Often, we can help prevent diseases entirely, just by ensuring that your pet has received appropriate vaccinations and preventives. We recommend that healthy adult dogs and cats visit us once a year. Puppies, kittens, senior pets, and pets with health issues or illnesses need more frequent checkups.
